Who we’re looking for

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Star Governance team, working as a Local Governance Support Officer. You will work closely with many key individuals at the heart of our decision-making process.

We are looking for an individual who has exceptional writing skills, is able to understand and present information clearly, and can manage and prioritise competing demands and deadlines.

Working closely with our senior leadership team, trustees, star central staff, schools and governors, and other stakeholders, you will primarily support our trust or school committees by providing an efficient governance support and advice service that meets statutory and regulatory compliance requirements. This will enable our trustees or governors to make effective decisions and provide key scrutiny to the trust/school operations.

You will work as part of an expanding and professional team who will enable you to develop and demonstrate your skills in a supportive environment. This vacancy is an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to start or progress their career in the academy/corporate governance sector.

You will have

  • An A Level/NVQ qualification Level 3 (or equivalent).

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to be proficient in editing documents with the ability to correct spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors; ensuring clear formatting and presentation.

  • The ability to manage your own workload effectively.

  • An awareness and interest in academy/corporate governance and the need to ensure regulatory needs are met.
