Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised learning programmes from early childhood to NCEA Level 3.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position

We're seeking a passionate kaiako with expertise in pathways to join our Northern region team. This position is based in our Whangārei tari (office).

Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our ākonga online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week.

Ko koe tēnei | About you

  • New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
  • Experience teaching within the secondary years (years 7-15) and a solid understanding of the NZ Curriculum
  • A genuinely caring, inclusive teaching style that puts ākonga at the centre
  • Showing commitment to developing your te reo Māori and strengthening your bicultural capability
  • Confidence using a range of digital tools to communicate, collaborate, and support engaging learning
  • A team-focused mindset, optimistic energy, and a real passion for teaching and learning
