About This Role

Purpose of the Role:
The IB MYP Art Teacher plays a vital role in inspiring students to explore and articulate their creativity through a curriculum focused on inquiry-based arts. This position is designed to support students in developing their artistic, conceptual, and technical skills while encouraging critical thinking, cultural appreciation, and personal expression. The teacher will create engaging learning opportunities that align with the IB MYP framework, helping students to discover their individual artistic voices and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive arts program within the school community. The IB MYP Art Teacher will be tasked with teaching and managing the design, implementation, and evaluation of the IB MYP ART curriculum for the years 2026-2028, while embracing the vision, mission, and values of Lumio School.

Lumio Private School is a newly founded not-for-profit international institution located near Paphos, Cyprus, with its doors opening in September 2024. Set on a stunning 6.8-hectare campus currently undergoing renovations, Lumio boasts modern classrooms, well-equipped science and IT labs, dedicated spaces for arts and sports, and a wide array of extracurricular activities. Qualifications needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts Education, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification or qualification for secondary education.
  • Experience teaching within the IB MYP or inquiry-based learning environments is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of visual arts techniques, media, and contemporary practices.
  • Ability to customize instruction to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development and reflective practices.
  • A genuine passion for fostering creativity and artistic expression in young people.
  • Open-minded, culturally aware, and enthusiastic about international education.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and assess high-quality, inquiry-based Visual Arts lessons aligned with MYP Arts objectives.
  • Develop authentic, engaging units of inquiry that incorporate conceptual understanding and global contexts.
  • Guide students through the creative process, promoting experimentation, problem-solving, and reflective practices.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progress and artistic growth.
  • Create a safe, inspiring, and visually stimulating learning environment that celebrates student accomplishments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, assessment records, and reports as per IB standards.
  • Facilitate opportunities for exhibitions, showcases, and community involvement in the arts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in IB training, professional development, and ongoing curriculum planning.
  • Follow school policies, ensure student well-being, and exemplify the school’s values and mission.
