Description:
Sun West School Division is seeking applicants for a full-time Learning Consultant position. The chosen candidate will play a key role in providing support, guidance, and leadership in curriculum development, instructional practices, assessment, and personalized learning initiatives. The specific office base and portfolio will be established in collaboration with the Superintendent of Learning, under whose direction the successful candidate will operate.
Preference will be given to those who demonstrate:
- In-depth knowledge of student learning and engagement principles.
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies for Tier 1 and 2, along with the adaptive dimension.
- Expertise in K-9 curriculum and assessment methodologies.
- Innovative pedagogical practices.
- Experience in multi-grade teaching environments.
- Proven capability to incorporate 21st Century skills into curriculum outcomes.
- Outstanding leadership qualities with the ability to plan, guide, and execute initiatives.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to work autonomously, manage workload priorities, and adhere to deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as necessary to fulfill the role's responsibilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Instructional Support & Curriculum Development
- Offer coaching and guidance to educators on evidence-based instructional methods and best practices.
- Assist in the creation, adaptation, and rollout of curriculum frameworks, instructional resources, and learning materials.
- Collaborate with teachers to craft effective learning environments that foster student engagement, inclusion, and success.
- Demonstrate instructional techniques and co-plan or co-teach as appropriate to enhance teacher development.
2. Assessment & Data-Informed Decision Making
- Support schools in adopting effective practices for assessment, including formative, summative, and diagnostic assessments.
- Aid educators in analyzing student data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement at the class, school, or district level.
- Guide teams in leveraging data to make instructional modifications, plan interventions, and set goals.
- Provide training and resources to improve teachers' assessment literacy.
3. Professional Learning & Capacity Building
- Design, coordinate, and lead professional development opportunities for educators, support staff, and school administrators.
- Facilitate workshops, communities of practice, coaching cycles, and professional development sessions aligned with the goals of the organization.
- Encourage ongoing learning by curating and disseminating relevant research, tools, and instructional resources.
- Support school teams in fostering collaborative cultures aimed at enhancing teaching and learning.
4. Collaboration & Resource Coordination
- Collaborate with school leaders, division teams, and external partners to align instructional efforts and support overarching system objectives.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic learning initiatives.
- Act as a resource for schools, connecting educators with materials, expertise, and support services.
- Contribute to organizational planning, reporting, and communication regarding learning and instruction.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of teaching experience and hold a valid teaching certificate.
