DUTIES:
In the role of Indigenous Curriculum and Pedagogy Consultant (ICPC), you will report directly to the Associate Vice-President of Academic Quality and Excellence. This position is instrumental in promoting reconciliation and Indigenization within the institution. The ICPC will spearhead and assist initiatives to incorporate Indigenous knowledge, philosophies, and teaching methodologies into UCN’s programs and curricula. You will work closely with faculty, the Council of Elders, community Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous communities to ensure that Indigenous perspectives are authentically represented across various disciplines. Additionally, you will contribute to institutional efforts aimed at strengthening ties with Indigenous communities and furthering UCN’s dedication to reconciliation, decolonization, and the respectful inclusion of Indigenous worldviews in education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Master’s degree in Indigenous Studies or Education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
• Familiarity with Indigenous cultures, including practices related to Indigenous knowledge, concepts, and pedagogies.
• Experience collaborating with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
• Traditional knowledge.
• Ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management abilities.
• A commitment to lifelong learning.
ASSETS:
• Experience in teaching or working within a post-secondary setting.
• Background in curriculum design and development.
• Proficiency in an Indigenous language.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s license is required as travel will be necessary.
