Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in, Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers lacking a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not meet every single qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education are appreciated.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Background in teaching within bilingual or ESL settings
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with current assessment methods to inform learning
- Proven ability to foster a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in cultivating respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Skills in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Involvement with students outside the classroom, when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Proven ability to work as part of a school team
- Experience in learning and contributing within a community-focused setting

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Kimmirut, Nunavut: $19,122
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Candidates currently working for the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
