Location: NACIS Shanghai

NACIS Shanghai is seeking a Bagpipe Teacher to lead the NACIS Bagpipe School Youth Team, which is the first Youth Bagpipe Team established in China.

This position offers a unique opportunity to mentor a new generation of resilient and innovative global citizens ready to effect positive change in the world. By engaging in our initiatives like the Global Campus, Nord Anglia University, and collaborations with prestigious organizations such as The Juilliard School, MIT, UNICEF, and King’s College London, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of our students and the wider community.

The School:
Founded in September 2016, NACIS Shanghai delivers a dynamic, creative, and enriching educational experience. We cater to students aged 6 to 18 within an innovative and globally conscious school setting. Our distinctive bilingual, blended learning program culminates in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Located in the Minhang District of Shanghai, our school features advanced facilities that support our progressive educational model. Our diverse faculty represents ten different countries, with significant representation from China, the UK, Ireland, and North America.

The Role:
We are in search of a Bagpipe Teacher to join our faculty, with key responsibilities that include:
1) Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of bagpipes while exhibiting adaptability within the Performing Arts department to instruct various aspects and age groups of the curriculum.
2) Ensuring that planning, preparation, teaching, assessment, and reporting effectively address the needs of students and align with the school’s standards.
3) Establishing high expectations for students by crafting engaging learning experiences that align with our Secondary curriculum and promoting a culture of achievement.
4) Fostering a respectful classroom environment that encourages inquiry and discussion as a means of learning.
5) Actively contributing to the overall development and progress of the school.
6) Collaborating with performing arts educators from both Primary and Secondary Schools to create a high-performing department, leveraging our partnership with Juilliard to inspire and guide students throughout their secondary education.

The Successful Candidate will Possess:
1) Experience in teaching bagpipes, with additional proficiency in another subject area being a plus.
2) A strong grasp of effective teaching methodologies and the capability to meet the diverse needs of all students through thoughtful classroom organization, differentiation, and learning strategies.
3) A bachelor’s degree is required.
4) A collaborative mindset and adaptability.

About You:
You are enthusiastic about working with others and sharing your expertise, taking pride in representing the school. Your excellent communication skills will allow you to engage effectively with diverse audiences, building strong relationships with both parents and students. You should be able to thrive in our vibrant international environment and meet the visa requirements for China, which include holding a bachelor’s degree, passing a non-criminal background check, and having at least 24 months of teaching experience.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
