About This Role

The British International School of Tbilisi (BIST) is on the lookout for enthusiastic and dedicated staff members to join our vibrant and distinctive independent school. Currently, we cater to around 500 students aged 3 to 18 from over 54 different countries. Our modern, purpose-designed campus spans more than 15,000 square meters and is nestled beside a natural lake on the hills with a view of the city. The advanced facilities are equipped with numerous features aimed at fostering innovative teaching and learning for the 21st Century. We integrate the English National Curriculum with the International Primary Curriculum to provide a creative and adaptable curriculum culminating in Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels at Key Stages 4 & 5. BIST holds Patron's Accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).

We currently have an opening for the following position, primarily due to the school's expansion: a Head of Mathematics Department. The successful candidate must have experience teaching A Level Mathematics, with Further Mathematics being a desirable but not mandatory qualification.

At BIST, both students and faculty are dedicated to engaging with the wider community through our extensive BIST community initiatives. All teachers are expected to actively participate in cross-curricular days and weeks, a diverse array of extra-curricular activities, and the PSHE program. Secondary educators will be required to teach their subject up to A Level and prepare students for entry into prestigious universities worldwide.

Ideal candidates will possess recent experience in the UK or internationally, demonstrate high motivation, excellent organizational skills, and hold UK qualifications (or equivalent internationally recognized credentials). Familiarity with the benefits and challenges of living in a rapidly developing country is advantageous.

Employees at BIST benefit from a stimulating and supportive working atmosphere, with compensation and conditions that are competitive among international schools in the area. Our net pay scales exceed those of the UK, complemented by relocation allowances to and from Georgia, an annual flight ticket, a health and wellness package, a housing allowance, and the chance to live and work in a beautiful and intriguing country. BIST is committed to the professional growth of our staff and provides an annual CPD allowance. Successful candidates will become part of a team of enthusiastic and dedicated professionals at this well-respected and popular school.

To apply, please send a completed BIST application form along with a supporting letter by April 6, 2026. We encourage early applications, as we will start conducting initial interviews before the deadline. Application forms and additional information can be requested via email at recruitment@bist.ge. Candidates will be formally interviewed through Google Meet and also have the option for an informal discussion via Zoom or Skype before this.

The British International School of Tbilisi prioritizes the safeguarding of children and young people. All applicants will undergo appropriate vetting procedures, including checks with previous employers and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check. Our safeguarding and safer recruitment policies are provided to all potential candidates.
