Teacher of Design
Job Overview:
•
Deliver engaging instruction across various Design and Technology fields, such as Product Design and Digital Design (preferably in both MYP and DP contexts), utilizing inquiry- and concept-based methodologies that foster creative and analytical thinking.
•
Design and implement educational experiences that merge design thinking, sustainability, and innovation, aligning with the IB Learner Profile and global contexts.
•
Oversee the safe and efficient operation of tools, machinery, and materials within the design studios and workshops, adhering to pertinent health and safety guidelines while encouraging best practices among students.
•
Stay informed about safety standards and risk assessments, ensuring all educational spaces comply with necessary regulations.
•
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the MYP and DP Design curriculum, engaging in collaborative planning and ensuring coherence across the programs.
•
Serve as a tutor for a designated year group in Secondary School (Year 7 -13).
The Design Faculty at the British School Jakarta is an energetic and well-equipped center of creativity, innovation, and technical skill. Our recently upgraded facilities feature three fully outfitted workshops with brand-new equipment, a specialized robotics room, and a cutting-edge 3D printing suite that includes six high-end Ultimaker printers within a temperature- and humidity-regulated environment.
Additionally, the faculty is equipped with a complete Mac desktop suite and a set of MacBook Pros, providing students with uninterrupted access to industry-standard software and digital design resources. Our team is bolstered by two full-time, highly skilled technicians and a dedicated technician preparation area, ensuring the effective execution of practical lessons and project activities.
Furthermore, our dedicated Computer Science teaching room enhances the integration of design, engineering, and technology. The department features an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary facilities, a collaborative team spirit, and enthusiastic, creative students, creating an outstanding atmosphere for an innovative leader looking to influence the next stage of BSJ’s design and innovation journey.

The ideal candidate will exhibit:

A proven history of outstanding teaching experience

Ability to teach across the Secondary age range

Exceptional subject expertise

Passion and drive for exemplary teaching and learning
•
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience consistent with the qualifications required for this position
