About This Role
Maple Bear Middle School Uzbekistan is on the lookout for a passionate and experienced IB MYP English Language Acquisition (ELA) Teacher to become part of our expanding international school community. This position entails instructing students in Grades 6 to 10 who are acquiring English as an additional language. The ideal candidate will be committed to implementing the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework and Diploma Programme (DP), promoting linguistic and cultural understanding, and providing focused, individualized support in small group settings.
β Curriculum Delivery: Design, prepare, and present engaging and differentiated lessons for the IB MYP English Language Acquisition course, accommodating various language proficiency levels (Phases 1-6).
β Assessment: Conduct and evaluate formative and summative assessments, including official MYP criterion-based assessments, while offering timely and constructive feedback to students.
β MYP Implementation: Ensure that all teaching and learning activities align with the IB MYP philosophy and curriculum standards, incorporating Global Contexts and fostering Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
β Student Support: Take advantage of small class sizes to offer personalized support and language scaffolding, aiding students in enhancing their language proficiency and engaging with the wider curriculum.
β Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow MYP educators, the MYP Coordinator, and subject-area experts to weave ELA skills throughout the curriculum.
β Professional Development: Engage in all professional development opportunities offered by the school, including mandatory IB training, to stay current with the MYP ELA subject guide and assessment practices.
β Communication: Foster open and professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and well-being.
Qualifications and Experience
β A Bachelorβs degree (or higher) in Education, English, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline.
β Valid teaching certification/licensure from an accredited institution.
β At least two years of experience teaching English Language Learners (ELLs) at the middle school level (Grades 6-10) is preferred.
β Prior experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable.
β Experience in an international school environment is an advantage.
