About This Role

Roles & Responsibilities


Develop and implement a high-quality Japanese mother tongue program at Invictus Dempsey Hill (IDH) that meets rigorous academic standards.


Design, prepare, deliver, and document lessons in accordance with the Japanese curriculum for students from year 1 to 6, aiming to support their growth as native speakers and maintain their alignment with grade-level expectations in the Japanese education system.


Evaluate student progress based on Japanese curriculum standards and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents, both in written and verbal formats to enhance their learning.


Gather necessary resources, texts, and assessment tools to effectively deliver the Japanese mother tongue program.


Serve as a key Japanese-speaking faculty member, engaging with parents and the broader community as required.


Keep current with subject knowledge and developments.


Collaborate across various subjects and curricular links to enhance the Japanese mother tongue program.


Encourage high standards throughout the school, particularly regarding student progress.


Foster a positive, purposeful, and professional school culture.


Adhere to the professional responsibilities outlined in the Invictus Staff Handbook along with all relevant policies and procedures.


Actively participate in Professional Learning and Development (PLD) initiatives, appraisal processes, and performance management systems.


Share additional responsibilities fairly and appropriately.


Maintain a teaching load suitable for the position, as directed by the line manager and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).


Support and participate in school events as requested.

Learning, Teaching, and Assessment


Be an exemplary role model, demonstrating high expectations in subject instruction, curriculum planning, professionalism, and administrative duties.


Stay informed about curriculum developments through reading, PLD opportunities, and actively seek further professional growth.


Oversee curriculum development and associated resources in a way that engages and challenges students according to their needs and abilities.


Take charge of curriculum delivery and associated resources in alignment with school and departmental policies.


Continuously assess learning related to MTPs and associated educational objectives.


Prepare students for and administer relevant summative assessments.


Ensure consistency with internal and external marking schedules and moderation processes.


Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and fair records of formative and summative assessment outcomes.


Draft reports on student performance for both internal and external purposes as needed.


Encourage student independence, leadership, and voice within the curriculum and the school environment overall.


Ensure all internal examinations are conducted and assessed in accordance with external examination standards.

Welfare and Discipline


Document and maintain relevant records for individual student files and write reports as necessary.


Consult and communicate with parents as needed.


Participate in and document meetings for the aforementioned purposes.


Support high standards of student behavior and uniformity in all school activities and external environments.


Follow school policies regarding student health and safety both on and off campus when students are under the school’s care.


Take a personal interest in students during curriculum and extracurricular activities to ensure they feel valued and cared for.


Carry out supervision duties as necessary to maintain safety.

Communication


Ensure alignment of the subject with the school’s mission, vision, and values.


Foster a teaching ethos in the subject that matches the expectations of Invictus International School and aligns with the teaching standards document.


Provide support for staff cover during absences, according to the cover roster.


Collaborate with colleagues and contribute effectively in all meetings.


Facilitate effective communication with parents and guardians, providing guidance on how to support their child at home.


Engage with examination boards, awarding bodies, and other relevant external organizations as needed.


Disseminate subject-specific information across the school when appropriate, such as scheduled events.

Collegiality


Attend meetings aimed at sharing information essential for the smooth operation of the school and successful program delivery.


Supervise students during non-class time as determined by the duty roster.


Always conduct oneself in a manner that sets a positive example for students and preserves the respect of colleagues and the reputation of Invictus International School.

Other Responsibilities


Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Principal or members of the Senior Leadership Team that are deemed necessary for the effective functioning of the school.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
