About This Role
The British College of Andorra, situated in the stunning Pyrenees mountains, is excited to announce a vacancy for a Teacher of PE who can also teach Sports, Health, and Exercise Science at the IB level as our institution continues to grow.
We are looking for an inspiring educator dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to excel in physical education. The ideal candidate will have a teaching philosophy grounded in an inquiry-based approach that connects theory to practice. A comprehensive understanding of the differences between performance and learning, along with a well-informed perspective on assessment and feedback, is crucial. The successful applicant will adeptly integrate technology into their teaching and adopt an inclusive approach to the PE curriculum, which currently encompasses units such as dance and orienteering alongside traditional offerings. As the lead Secondary PE teacher, they will bring enthusiasm and a clear vision to the role.
Candidate Specifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status - essential
- Relevant Master’s degree - essential
- Strong outreach abilities to promote collaboration between schools in PE and sports - essential
- Specialization and capability to teach Sports, Health, and Exercise Science (IB Diploma) at a pre-university level - essential
- Experience with students for whom English is an additional language - desirable
- Proficiency in Spanish or a willingness to learn quickly - desirable
- Willingness to participate in the school’s extracurricular activities (e.g., outdoor pursuits, Duke of Edinburgh Award, sports, MUN) - desirable
This position entails teaching PE to students aged 11 to 18 years (Years 7-13/Grades 6-12), adhering to the English National Curriculum and subsequently delivering the IB SHES course.
This role offers a unique opportunity to live in a breathtaking natural environment, with outdoor pursuits like skiing, cycling, trail running, climbing, and mountain walking right at your doorstep, alongside the advantage of low tax rates. The school currently serves 300 students and is on the verge of significant expansion in the coming years, located just outside Andorra la Vella in a scenic mountainous region. We are conveniently situated three hours by road (with excellent transport links) from both Barcelona and Toulouse.
