About This Role

St. Anne’s School, an independent co-educational establishment located in Madrid, offers a comprehensive British education for children aged one to sixteen. For students between 16 and 18 years, the institution provides the IB Diploma Programme. Nestled in Chamartín, one of the most esteemed and attractive residential areas of Madrid, the school is easily reachable from various parts of the city. We are currently seeking passionate and innovative educators to join our dedicated teaching team.

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Computing and Computer Science teacher who can deliver lessons aligned with the UK curriculum. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspiring students through engaging lessons that contribute to their learning and growth within the British educational framework. This role requires creating a stimulating and inclusive environment that encourages inquiry-based learning and academic excellence, while fostering students’ academic progress, critical thinking skills, and independent learning. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team of educators with access to a wealth of professional development opportunities.

Accountabilities:

1. Conduct engaging and well-structured lessons that are in line with the school’s curriculum, ensuring that students grasp and master the subject material.

2. Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments, assessments, and examinations to facilitate their academic growth.

3. Utilize innovative teaching strategies and instructional methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

4. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the program’s standards and objectives.

5. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that values diversity and encourages respect and open-mindedness.

6. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic progress, providing regular updates to students, parents, and school administrators.

7. Serve as a form tutor, overseeing the emotional and academic wellbeing of students in your form group.

8. Stay updated on the latest educational research and best practices to enhance teaching strategies and improve student outcomes.

9. Actively participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences to broaden teaching expertise.

10. Collaborate with school leadership and faculty to ensure compliance with IB regulations, maintaining the school’s status as an authorized IB World School.

11. Contribute to the wider life of the school community.

Relationships:

- Develop strong professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

- Work closely with Heads of Section, the IBDP Coordinator, and other teaching and non-teaching staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, academic goals, and strategies for improvement.

- Collaborate with support staff, including learning support specialists and counselors, to provide comprehensive support for students' academic and personal needs.

- Establish positive connections with external stakeholders, such as IB examiners, universities, and educational organizations, to remain engaged with the broader educational community.

The ideal candidate will possess:

An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.

A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).

Experience teaching the relevant curricula.

Familiarity with Cambridge and IB assessment methods.

The ability to inspire and motivate students, instilling a passion for the subject and fostering critical thinking.

A commitment to continuous professional development.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

A solid understanding of student wellbeing and pastoral care.

Proficiency in English (C2 level).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
