About This Role

In light of the ongoing growth of our school, we are pleased to announce the opening for the position of Head of Sixth Form, set to begin in August 2026.

The Head of Sixth Form at Cheltenham Muscat is a vital leadership position, concentrating on the academic success, pastoral care, and overall development of Sixth Form students. This role is essential in fostering an environment where students achieve both academically and personally, within the context of a British Independent School that follows the Cambridge International Curriculum and embodies the values of Cheltenham College UK. The Head of Sixth Form will create a supportive yet challenging educational setting, guiding students to successfully complete their A Levels and equipping them with the skills and character necessary for future achievements.

As part of an all-through school that caters to a diverse group of students, this position requires cultural sensitivity, strong leadership skills, and effective partnership with faculty and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The Head of Sixth Form will also participate in wider school leadership efforts, including quality assurance, as we strive to provide a premier British education rooted in respect, integrity, and academic excellence.

The School

Established in September 2021, Cheltenham Muscat is Oman’s first premium British school, serving children from ages 3 to 18. Situated on a cutting-edge campus, both students and teachers at Cheltenham Muscat enjoy exceptional facilities for academic endeavors and extracurricular engagement, with strong support from our partner institution, Cheltenham College, which boasts a legacy of outstanding education spanning over 180 years.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Academic Leadership and Curriculum Oversight

  • Oversee the Sixth Form academic program, ensuring effective A Level delivery and proper course alignment for students.
  • Monitor and support students’ academic progress, providing guidance on subject choices, university applications, and career pathways.
  • Collaborate with subject leaders and teachers to maintain high standards of teaching and learning within the Sixth Form.

Pastoral Care and Student Development

  • Manage the pastoral support system for Sixth Form students, promoting their well-being, personal development, and positive behavior.
  • Develop and sustain a meaningful Life Skills program for Sixth Form students, ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment that reflects the school’s values and honors cultural diversity.
  • Launch initiatives that foster leadership, citizenship, and participation in extracurricular activities among Sixth Form students.
  • Oversee student leadership programs within the Sixth Form.
  • Motivate Sixth Form students to become active members of the wider school community.

Leadership and Quality Assurance

  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in various leadership roles, including quality assurance across the school.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school policies, particularly those related to the Sixth Form.
  • Engage in the recruitment, assessment, and professional development of the Sixth Form staff team.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Foster effective communication with students, parents, staff, and external partners to enhance Sixth Form success.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and other phase leaders to ensure a cohesive educational experience throughout the school.
  • Represent the school at external events and communicate with universities, examination boards, and other educational organizations.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Utilize assessment data and performance metrics to inform strategic planning and interventions for Sixth Form students.
  • Monitor student attendance, analyze patterns, and intervene as necessary to improve attendance rates.
  • Prepare reports for the Senior Leadership Team, governors, and parents as required.
