We are currently seeking an exceptional Head of Secondary to join our team starting February 2025.
The role
The Head of Secondary collaborates closely with the Headmaster on all matters concerning the secondary school and is a vital member of the senior leadership team at Cambridge College, alongside the Head of Junior and Head of ELS. This individual will also serve as a deputy for the Headmaster during their absence.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the Secondary school.
- Collaborate with the Headmaster and department heads to evaluate and drive the academic progress of the Secondary School while monitoring academic standards for both progress and achievement.
- Oversee Key Stage 4, ensuring students are well-prepared for IGCSEs.
- Manage Key Stage 5, ensuring students are ready for IBDP examinations.
- Establish ambitious and aspirational targets for the institution.
- Develop school policy and procedures, ensuring compliance with Inspired standards.
- Serve as an exemplary teacher (with a reduced timetable).
- Provide encouragement, support, and advice to Heads of Departments/Subject leaders.
- Ensure student safety and welfare by implementing Safeguarding, Health and Safety, GDPR, and other relevant policies.
- Promote a sense of teamwork among staff and offer support, guidance, and encouragement as needed.
The successful candidate should possess:
- Extensive experience in a British or British international school.
- PGCE/QTS or an equivalent international qualification.
- Strong experience with IB and IGCSE curricula.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a 3-18 years educational setting.
- Understanding and empathy.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Proficiency in Spanish would be an advantage.

To qualify for a visa or working permit, you must meet the following requirements:
- Four years of teaching experience.
- A teacher's degree or an appropriate qualification to teach.
- PGCE, PGDE, UK Qualified Teacher Status, or a similar teaching qualification.
- Proficiency in English.
