As the Head of Computer Science, you will be a vital contributor to the digital transformation at the College. Your involvement will be crucial in discussions regarding the implementation of AI across the institution and in shaping key decisions. Whether you’re introducing innovative concepts for college-wide strategies or exemplifying best practices, your expertise will be essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster a positive team environment.
- Set and model high standards for teaching and learning.
- Introduce creative initiatives and lead collaborative projects to maintain a diverse and engaging curriculum that allows students to explore the subject and grow within your department.
- Ensure that all department members motivate each student to achieve their academic potential through enthusiastic, personalized teaching, targeted stretch and challenge, meticulous record-keeping, and follow-up.
- Monitor and track the progress of all students within your department.
- Collaborate with your departmental team on setting and addressing individual student needs.
- Oversee the annual update of departmental policies, handbooks, and documentation, encompassing staffing, curriculum planning, schemes of work, timetabling, job descriptions, budget management, INSET, assessments, meetings, guest visits, and risk assessments.
- Ensure that Schemes of Work are current and effectively implemented.
- Supervise examinations and assessments within the department.
- Take a lead role in the future development of your department within the College.
- Manage the departmental budget and oversee the ordering of all necessary equipment.
- Ensure the department’s contributions to the College website, social media, and publications are timely and accurate.
- Oversee and proofread departmental reports.
- Be accountable for your Departmental Development Plan and contribute to the College's Self Evaluation and Development Plan.
- Attend all required meetings and INSET, contributing to Heads of Department discussions.
- Organize and lead regular departmental meetings.
- Stay updated on the latest educational practices, philosophies, and advancements in your subject area.
- Maintain strong connections and regular communication with professional organizations associated with your department.
- Lead by example in all aspects of school life and serve as a powerful role model for colleagues as an exemplary practitioner.
Teaching and Learning
- Encourage every student to realize their academic potential through enthusiastic, personalized teaching, targeted stretch and challenge, and thorough record-keeping and follow-up.
- Comply with all College policies, including those related to marking, assessment, teaching and learning, and reporting.
- Develop and share schemes of work and resources using the College's formats.
- Provide assistance in covering colleagues when necessary.
- Attend all required meetings and INSET sessions.
- Prepare, invigilate, and assess internal and external tests and examinations as needed.
Pastoral
- Adhere to and act on all policies related to child safeguarding.
- Function within a house structure as a Tutor for a designated year group.
- Take an active interest in each child's personal and home circumstances.
