Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers lacking a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based educational practices
- Background in bilingual or ESL teaching environments
- Experience in teaching within cross-cultural or northern Canadian settings

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching methods
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Knowledge or experience with contemporary assessment techniques to inform learning
- Experience in cultivating a supportive classroom environment through effective management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to establish respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Involvement with students outside the classroom setting, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Proven track record of working as part of a cohesive school team
- Experience in engaging and contributing to a community-focused educational environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (depending on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Igloolik, Nunavut: $22,579
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be required.

Conditions of Employment
- Candidates currently working for the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
