Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-centered education are highly regarded.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written communication)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Teaching experience in a bilingual or ESL setting
- Background in cross-cultural or northern-Canada educational contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Knowledge of current assessment methods to support learning
- Experience in fostering a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to build respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience in promoting student wellbeing and engagement
- Engagement with students outside the classroom as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in planning instruction and student supports through collaborative methods
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a school team
- Willingness to learn and contribute in a shared, community-focused setting

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Arctic Bay, Nunavut: $25,453
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
