Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are appreciated.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written).
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
- Experience teaching in bilingual or ESL settings.
- Experience in teaching within cross-cultural or northern Canadian environments.

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development.
- Familiarity with current assessment strategies to enhance learning.
- Proven ability to cultivate a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports).

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in establishing respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement.
- Experience in interacting with students beyond the classroom, as appropriate.

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience working collaboratively to plan instruction and student support.
- Experience as part of a school team in a cooperative environment.
- Experience in contributing to a shared, community-focused educational setting.

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (dependent on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Arctic Bay, Nunavut: $25,453
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently working for the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
