Position Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Educator to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing educational programs that honor diversity, advance equity, and reflect the rich cultural heritage of our community. This role requires a strong dedication to indigenization, a focus on a competency-based curriculum, and a creative approach to land-based education.

Responsibilities:

Course Development: Work collaboratively with fellow educators, Elders, and community members to create and implement a competency-based curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.

Cultural Inclusion: Create a learning environment that acknowledges and integrates diverse Indigenous viewpoints, ensuring that the curriculum is representative of the local Indigenous culture.

Equity and Inclusion: Apply strategies to enhance equity and inclusion within the school community, addressing disparities and nurturing a sense of belonging for every student.

Community Engagement: Act as a bridge between the school and the community, gathering input, fostering collaboration, and seeking feedback to continually enhance educational programs.

Land-Based Education: Design and embed land-based learning experiences into the curriculum, encouraging a profound connection to the land and traditional practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education

Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

The following criteria will be key considerations in the hiring process:

A strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.

Experience with Inquiry-based instructional methods.

Background in curriculum implementation, particularly in competency-based education.

Experience in competency-based assessment and evaluation.

A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Knowledge of the Northwest Territories' Inclusive Schooling practices.

Familiarity with land-based education principles and practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Compensation

$95,232 - $153,748 + Northern Living Allowance: $
