Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Teachers educated internationally who do not possess a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are greatly appreciated.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Experience teaching in bilingual or ESL environments
- Experience teaching in cross-cultural or northern Canadian contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Training or experience utilizing current assessment methods to guide learning
- Experience creating a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience promoting student wellbeing and engagement
- Experience interacting with students outside the classroom, as appropriate

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pangnirtung, Nunavut: $19,077
- Subsidized Housing: Available, but sharing may be required

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
