About This Role

GBA is on the lookout for passionate and motivated teachers to become part of our expanding school located in the heart of Kuwait.

Founded in 2005, Gulf British Academy is a vibrant British International School recognized with BSO accreditation. Currently, we serve students from Pre-KG through Year 11, with plans to evolve into a comprehensive 3-18 school in the coming years. We are in search of a qualified and seasoned Teacher of Economics and Business Studies to join our dedicated team of Specialist Subject Teachers. Candidates must be fluent in English and hold a UK Department for Education teacher reference number or equivalent non-UK qualifications, or be in the final year of their teacher training.

What you will bring:

You are well-versed in IGCSE and can teach an additional subject at Key Stage 3, such as PSHE. As a reflective practitioner, you adapt your teaching methods to enhance learning and boost student achievement. You possess a growth mindset that encourages independence and confidence in our students, fostering their development as inquiry-based learners.

Essential qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Studies, or a related field along with a certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of your subject area demonstrated through your teaching experience and enthusiasm for Economics and Business Studies.
  • Documented UK teaching experience or international experience in a British curriculum-based, BSO-accredited institution.
  • A commitment to safeguarding all students and ensuring equality of opportunity for everyone.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and/or police clearance.

Desirable skills:

  • Certification in Google Workspace for Education
  • Experience with student management information systems (iSAMs, SIMS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the Edexcel examination specification
  • Awareness of initiatives such as Growth Mindset and Rosenshine
