The American School of The Hague (ASH) is seeking a part-time/full-time Elementary School Speech Language Pathologist for the 2026-2027 school year.

Start Date: August 1, 2026.

Location: Wassenaar, situated on the northern side of The Hague
Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required.

You understand that education serves as preparation for life beyond just advancing to the next academic level. Your passion lies in Elementary School, appreciating its distinctive character and unique personality. You thrive on supporting students through their formative years of growth and transformation, contributing to their academic, social, and emotional development during this critical phase, and equipping them for future success. You see yourself as an advocate, mentor, and strong supporter for your students, believing that collaboration among diverse backgrounds, gender identities, and learning abilities enhances the learning experience. You find energy and fulfillment in your role, eagerly coming to school to engage with your students. With a solution-oriented approach, you aim to foster a positive and enjoyable workplace.

As a lifelong learner, you are invigorated by fresh ideas and professional development, and you enjoy sharing your insights with your peers. You possess a strong understanding of team dynamics, collaborating effectively with fellow educators and administrators. As an exceptional communicator, you view parents as partners in their children’s educational journeys. When making decisions, your focus is on how best to serve students and families, constantly seeking ways to enhance the ASH experience. You acknowledge that learning extends beyond a structured timetable and take pride in being both independent and open-minded, valuing the importance of constructive feedback.

You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Speech Language Pathology and possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). You are a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or a similarly recognized international organization. With a minimum of five years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in an American, Canadian, or international educational setting, you demonstrate significant cultural competency. Your experience includes working with Primary School students, and you have a thorough understanding of their developmental needs. You are adept at providing flexible service options, whether in small groups, classroom settings, or one-on-one. You actively support and model inclusive practices in all interactions.

The Role: The Elementary School serves nearly 220 international students. In this position, you will report to the Student Support Director and collaborate with a range of individuals, including parents, teachers, medical professionals, school administration, and the student support team. You will communicate important information, address concerns, and provide necessary guidance for staff. You will manage operations within a defined budget and may take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Student Support Director. As an engaged member of the school community, you will fully participate in continuous professional development opportunities. Above all, you will embody a commitment to our school’s mission, vision, professional standards, and core values.

The Work: You will perform standardized assessments of students’ Speech, Language, and Communication abilities to identify needs, create informed diagnoses, and develop effective treatment plans, support services, and strategies that ensure student success. This includes addressing articulation, fluency, voice, and both expressive and receptive language. You will design therapeutic strategies and identify appropriate assistive communication tools or devices to aid students’ communication and learning. Your services will be data-driven, with regular monitoring and documentation of progress toward individual goals in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. You will create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and SMART goals tailored to each student’s needs, collaborating with school-based support teams. Additionally, you will coordinate and facilitate team meetings and processes—such as testing, screening, and parent conferences—to share evaluations and jointly develop treatment and support plans. You will maintain comprehensive files and records, including progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and screening results, while ensuring compliance with all required standards.

Strong and open communication is essential to your role. Regular interactions with parents will be crucial as you provide insights into their children’s social, academic, and behavioral progress. Your contributions will be valued in discussions about how best to address student needs. If you have talents or interests outside of education in areas such as music, athletics, or the arts, we encourage you to bring those to ASH, as you will have opportunities to participate in after-school activities that support our students. Your proactive attitude will be key to your success in daily school life.
