About This Role

Position Overview:
The Science Teacher (MYP) provides stimulating, inquiry-driven Science education to students in Grades 6–10 as part of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating educational experiences aimed at enhancing students' scientific understanding, skills, and global awareness.

Key Responsibilities:
• Instruct students in Science subjects (such as Integrated Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics) in alignment with the IB MYP framework.
• Create and deliver lessons that focus on inquiry, conceptual comprehension, and practical application in the real world.
• Develop unit plans that align with MYP goals and the school's curriculum map.
• Employ various assessment techniques to evaluate student progress based on MYP criteria.
• Tailor instruction to accommodate a range of learning needs and language proficiencies.
• Encourage interdisciplinary learning by collaborating with colleagues from other subject areas.
• Oversee and assist students during science projects, experiments, and laboratory activities, ensuring safety and responsible conduct.
• Provide guidance for students engaging in the MYP Personal Project or similar assignments, as necessary.
• Keep precise records of student performance, reports, and communications with parents.
• Engage in regular school meetings, parent consultations, and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, science fairs, clubs, or events.
• Adhere to the school’s mission, IB learner profile, and academic standards.

Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science).
• A valid teaching qualification/license.
• At least [insert years, e.g., 2–3 years] of teaching experience, ideally in an IB MYP or international school environment.
• A solid understanding of the IB philosophy and the MYP framework.
• Experience with inquiry-based pedagogy and student-centered instruction.
• Strong classroom management and communication abilities.
• Capability to collaborate effectively within a multicultural team.
• Proficiency in English (or the school’s language of instruction).

Preferred:
• Certificates from IB MYP training/workshops.
• Experience in incorporating technology into science instruction.
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary units and project-based learning methodologies.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
