About This Role
Job Purpose:
To fulfill professional responsibilities as a middle leader with an emphasis on enhancing educational standards and teaching quality throughout the school by promoting excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Principal and Leadership Team in school management and specific improvement initiatives.
• Sustain and consistently elevate the exceptional educational offerings at Metropole School.
• Perform teaching duties as necessary, adhering to the National Curriculum to foster academic growth across the institution.
• Work collaboratively with school leadership to pinpoint strengths and areas needing development.
• Offer personalized training to teachers focused on classroom practices, employing research-based instructional techniques. Follow up as required.
• Deliver professional development through team teaching, lesson modeling, and organized training sessions.
• Provide constructive feedback on essential documents, including the SEF, lesson plans, schemes of work, and resources.
Specific Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
• Oversee and enhance the quality of education and instruction across the school.
• Evaluate planning and teaching strategies to accommodate individual needs, including those of SEN students, Gifted and Talented individuals, and English Language Learners.
• Model effective classroom practices and conduct demonstration lessons for staff, parents, and external stakeholders as appropriate.
• Provide coaching to individual teachers as needed.
• Supervise the cycle of monitoring and observation.
• Assess, organize, and distribute resources throughout the school in alignment with the Department’s Action Plan.
• Collaborate with fellow middle leaders to ensure continuity and progression within the school.
• Ensure adherence to all curriculum policies, schemes of work, and general school guidelines by the team.
• Assist staff with curriculum planning and assessment.
• Monitor and support team members through classroom observations, work scrutiny, interviews, professional discussions, and reviews of documentation.
• Attend relevant courses and share information with other staff members.
• Support the Leadership Team in coordinating professional development opportunities for all teaching and non-teaching staff.
• Act as a coach or mentor for newly appointed staff, ensuring that all new staff members, including supply teachers, are familiar with school policies.
• Facilitate effective communication within your team and across other departments within the school.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Foster the development and utilization of assessment and school-based indicators to analyze, evaluate, and enhance learning and teaching.
Discipline and Behaviour Management
• Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior, with appropriate guidance.
Financial Management
• Assume responsibility for budget allocation in specific areas as agreed upon with the Principal.
School Community Links
• Build and nurture positive relationships with parents and other members of the wider school community.
• Encourage and promote partnerships between home and school.
• Lead informational sessions for parents as needed.
• Organize events and trips related to innovation and technology.
• Contribute to Parents’ Evenings.
• Ensure clear communication with parents.
• Create a termly subject group calendar of events.

GEMS Education
• Complete any additional duties reasonably assigned by the Headteacher/Principal.
