About This Role

Epsom College Malaysia is seeking an experienced and qualified Physical Education teacher to deliver a broad and engaging sports curriculum across all Key Stages. This role involves designing and implementing PE, Games, and swimming sessions, coaching teams, and organizing fixtures and major tournaments. The successful candidate will actively participate in a variety of co-curricular clubs before and after school. There is an opportunity for specialization in a specific sport, depending on departmental needs, as well as the possibility to teach throughout the school, mentor students, manage local, Kuala Lumpur, and international fixtures, and share best practices.

Candidates who express interest in the Head of Department role will be prioritized for the Head of PE position.

Academic Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Implement the PE curriculum for all year groups, showcasing expertise in both PE and academic PE to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience for students throughout the school.
  • Multi-Sport Expertise: Demonstrate exceptional skills and coaching capabilities across various sports, including but not limited to Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Badminton, Hockey, Football, Cricket, Swimming, and (Touch) Rugby. You will be expected to effectively engage and coach in different sports within the school's extensive sports program.
  • Teaching Excellence: Display teaching excellence by employing innovative, student-centered instructional approaches that foster a passion for PE, sport, and physical activity.
  • Student Engagement: Actively involve students in sports activities, encouraging participation, decision-making, tactical awareness, skill development, and a commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle.
  • Inclusive Teaching: Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports students of diverse abilities, ensuring that all students can thrive and enjoy sports.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in the PE department and the broader school community to exchange best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and assist in planning, organizing, and executing sports events.
  • Classroom Management: Uphold discipline and order among all students in line with the school’s behavior policy. Ensure a neat and organized workspace.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking: Implement effective assessment strategies and tracking tools to evaluate student progress in sports, providing constructive feedback to facilitate their development.
  • Co-curricular Involvement: Engage in co-curricular sports activities, including coaching and managing teams for competitions, thereby enriching the sports culture within the school. Actively participate in Saturday Sports activities, especially on weekends without fixtures, focusing on squad/team development, which may involve organizing internal tournaments or leading training sessions.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of students during PE and sports activities by adhering to established safety protocols and creating a secure environment.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Take part in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities to stay informed about current trends, coaching techniques, and advancements in sports education.
  • Parent Communication: Maintain effective communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and upcoming sports events, while encouraging positive engagement in their children's sports education. Write detailed reports on students’ performance, offering insights into their achievements and areas for improvement, in line with current teaching practices and educational innovations.
  • Fixtures: Participate in midweek and occasional Saturday fixtures, demonstrating a commitment to supporting and coaching students during sports competitions outside regular school hours.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate adaptability by covering lessons within the department during planned staff absences.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
