About This Role
Key Responsibilities encompass the following:
Uphold and promote the values and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
Effectively deliver the prescribed curriculum, showcasing a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter. Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing tailored materials and a conducive classroom setting to address varying learning styles.
Provide written documentation of lesson planning and preparation as needed. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum outlines, year plans, attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies.
Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
Teach students assigned to you, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs through appropriate teaching strategies that accommodate diverse learning requirements, such as late entrants, ESL students, those with lower academic abilities, as well as gifted and talented individuals.
Assign and evaluate student work. Assess, document, and report on the academic progress and achievements of students, using assessments to tailor the curriculum to meet individual needs.
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom.
Foster the overall growth and welfare of students, offering guidance on educational issues.
Engage in communication with external parties when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
Participate in performance appraisal and management processes, along with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives.
Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and development of teaching resources, coursework, and pastoral support arrangements.
Take part in, and lead when suitable, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs at the school. Encourage positive working relationships through active leadership, sharing insights, materials, and experiences.
Oversee and promote safe and appropriate behavior among students. Develop and implement strategies to foster self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
Exemplify and encourage cultural awareness and understanding, while fostering a passion for learning.
Assist in the planning and organization of school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
Maintain regular communication with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents informed about their children’s progress while respecting confidentiality regarding student information.
Exhibit initiative and dedication beyond standard working hours when tasks necessitate extra commitment.
Attend staff meetings and participate on committees as needed.
Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by direct and indirect supervisors.
