Pennine School is a newly established independent special school catering to students aged 10–18 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are dedicated to fostering a calm, supportive, and purposeful atmosphere where every student is empowered to thrive both academically and personally. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Humanities Teacher to become part of our expanding team. This is a distinctive opportunity to help build a specialist school aimed at addressing the individual learning requirements of students and equipping them for success in GCSEs, functional skills, and beyond.

About the Role

As a Humanities Teacher at Pennine School, your responsibilities will include:

- Teaching Humanities across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting your approach to suit individual student needs
- Delivering engaging and motivating lessons that enhance confidence and literacy skills
- Utilizing data effectively to assess student progress and guide lesson planning
- Collaborating with specialist support staff and multi-agency partners to improve outcomes
- Building positive relationships with students and families to encourage engagement and wellbeing
- Participating in curriculum planning within a broad, balanced, and personalized educational framework

Person Specification

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

Training & Qualifications

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) along with a relevant degree
- Proof of ongoing professional development
- Training related to SEN and behaviour management is preferred but not mandatory

Experience

- Proven experience teaching Humanities in KS3 and KS4 with measurable outcomes
- Background in supporting students with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Proficient in using assessment data to monitor student progress

Professional Knowledge

- Strong grasp of curriculum development, assessment, and effective teaching strategies
- Proficient in using ICT for instructional purposes
