About This Role
The Head of Boarding is essential to the daily and strategic oversight, organization, and leadership of the Boarding program. This role is focused on fostering a student-centered environment, ensuring that student well-being and growth are at the forefront as they work to incorporate the Mission, Motto, and Strategic Priorities of UWC Thailand into the overall student experience. The Head of Boarding acts as a key role model, exemplifying the school’s core values and striving to develop a Boarding culture that is nurturing, supportive, and respectful, all while aligning with UWC Values and the attributes of the IB Learner Profile. This position requires a delicate balance between encouraging student voice, agency, and independence, while also upholding guidelines and regulations that guarantee a high standard of care and safety.
The Head of Boarding will oversee a house parent load of 20 to 30%.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• A background of 3 to 5+ years working with students aged 12 and above in a residential context is preferred, along with a strong understanding of the operational practices pertinent to this role, the developmental needs of adolescents and young adults, and the legal requirements for student supervision.
• At least 2 years of formal leadership experience is desired, with a proven track record of making a positive impact.
• The ability to foster and lead a skilled team is crucial.
• A degree and/or a professional teaching qualification is essential.
• An international driving license is necessary.
• First Aid and CPR certifications are advantageous.
