Extended Provision Supervisor
About This Role
Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 3:00 pm-6:15 pm, Friday, 3:00 pm-5:30 pm
Hours per week: 15 hours and 30 minutes
Location: Wantage CE Primary School
We are looking for a warm, caring and well-organised individual to supervise our after-school wraparound care provision at Wantage CE Primary School.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the safe and effective day-to-day running of the provision, working alongside and supporting a wonderful team of staff to provide a welcoming, enjoyable and nurturing environment for our children.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading and supervising the after-school provision and supporting other members of the wraparound care team;
- Safeguarding children throughout the after-school period and following the school’s safeguarding procedures;
- Ensuring that registers are accurately maintained and that children are safely collected by authorised adults;
- Planning, preparing and supervising a varied programme of age-appropriate activities;
- Supporting children in their play while promoting positive behaviour and following the school’s behaviour policy;
- Preparing and supervising the serving of meals and snacks;
- Following food hygiene, allergy, health and safety procedures;
- Ensuring that the provision’s rooms, equipment and resources are safe, clean and appropriately organised;
- Communicating effectively and professionally with children, parents, carers and school staff;
- Responding appropriately to accidents, incidents or concerns and ensuring that these are recorded and reported in accordance with school procedures.
You should:
- Be able to build strong and appropriate relationships with children;
- Have experience of working with or caring for children;
- Be confident in leading a team and overseeing the day-to-day running of the provision;
- Be dependable, organised and able to use your initiative;
- Have effective communication skills;
- Be able to create a safe, positive and inclusive environment;
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities;
- Be able to promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s guidelines;
- Demonstrate good food hygiene practices and follow the school’s health and safety policies;
- Be able to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.
A relevant childcare qualification, paediatric first-aid certificate and food hygiene training would be desirable, although appropriate training may be provided.
