Role purpose:

The role involves providing classroom instruction and educational practices to enhance student learning by preparing and delivering effective lessons, ensuring opportunities for all students to learn and advance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop high-quality lesson plans.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences based on lesson content.
  • Deliver instructional materials using subject-specific resources.
  • Adapt support for students according to their individual needs and varying abilities.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with students in your classes and across the school to promote high levels of learning.
  • Share teaching strategies with peers and actively participate in a professional learning community aimed at improving educational quality throughout the school.
  • Maintain high expectations, believing that all students can exceed their current abilities.
  • Prepare classrooms by organizing and arranging essential equipment for student learning.
  • Oversee inventory and order learning supplies as required.
  • Assign and assess student projects, assignments, and examinations.
  • Record and report on student progress.
  • Foster student involvement in maintaining classroom cleanliness.
  • Attend faculty and other required school meetings.
  • Support students during school hours and extracurricular activities.
  • Offer additional educational assistance during school and after hours as needed.
  • Contribute to the HAIS monthly publication, HAISLife.
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional growth.
  • Take on responsibilities assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or Learning Leads.
  • Exemplify the values of Hoi An International School.

Pastoral / Student Well-being:

  • Communicate with parents regarding academic and pastoral issues, including follow-ups on student reports and parent-teacher meetings, and support school calendar events.
  • Assist with the school’s pastoral and support systems aimed at enhancing student well-being.
  • Develop and implement pastoral programs and initiatives relevant to the sector and school-wide.
  • Act as a point of contact for students, providing pastoral care to those assigned to you and the broader school community.
  • Create and implement teaching approaches that effectively meet the personal, social, and academic needs of students.
  • Ensure an inclusive environment for students within the classroom and the overall school.
  • Foster positive relationships and attitudes towards all students and staff throughout the institution.
  • Be mindful of how your pastoral care practices affect students, the school, peers, and the wider community.
