About This Role

Key Responsibilities

1) Teaching & Learning
- Deliver dynamic and well-organized Computer Science lessons for students from KS2 to KS5 (IGCSE and A Level).
- Teach essential topics such as programming, algorithms, computational thinking, databases, networks, and the latest technological advancements.
- Foster digital literacy, creative coding, and responsible online conduct throughout the school community.
- Engage in interdisciplinary STEM projects that integrate with Mathematics, Sciences, Robotics, Design Technology, or Humanities as relevant.
- Assist in the transition from KS2 to KS3 by collaborating with primary staff to establish a computing curriculum suitable for younger learners.
- Offer specialized academic support through clinics, revision workshops, and coursework assistance for examination groups and students requiring extra help.
- Maintain a safe and respectful learning atmosphere that aligns with RGSPP’s values and behavioral standards.

2) Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting
- Create and enhance Schemes of Work, collaborating with the Head of Department to incorporate best practices in Computer Science education.
- Aid in the preparation and grading of assessments that monitor student progress and guide personalized support.
- Equip students for public examinations (IGCSE/A Level or equivalent), which may include coursework or practical programming elements.
- Keep informed about advancements in technology, software, coding languages, and international digital trends.
- Supply accurate information for options booklets, the school website, and promotional materials.

3) Pastoral Care & Student Well-being
- Act as a Personal Tutor, nurturing strong connections with students and their families.
- Foster a safe and respectful educational environment in line with RGSPP’s values and behavioral culture.
- Differentiate instruction effectively for students with EAL, SEND, and high-achieving learners.
- Assist students needing extra academic support through clinics, catch-up sessions, or workshops.

4) Co-Curricular & Enrichment
- Lead or assist in technology-focused clubs such as coding, robotics, esports, digital media, cybersecurity, or app development.
- Contribute to RGSPP's holistic education by actively participating in Co-Curricular Activities, the House System, and leadership programs.
- Encourage student involvement in competitions (e.g., Bebras, Olympiads, robotics contests).
- Organize guest lectures, STEM/Tech days, problem-solving workshops, and innovation challenges.
- Forge partnerships with tech companies, universities, or NGOs to enhance learning experiences.

5) Operational Responsibilities
- Keep precise records of attendance, behavior, academic progress, and achievement.
- Participate in departmental planning, resource creation, and data analysis.
- Utilize school digital platforms effectively (e.g., MIS, reporting tools, online learning systems).
- Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to secure necessary hardware, software, robotics kits, or licenses.
- Assist with whole-school events, responsibilities, assemblies, and emergency protocols.

6) Marketing, Admissions & Community Engagement
- Support open days, taster sessions, and outreach initiatives that showcase Computer Science at RGSPP.
- Involve parents through workshops, information sessions, or digital safety briefings.
- Contribute to promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content that highlight student accomplishments.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Hold a degree in Computer Science, Computing, IT, Engineering, or a closely related area.
- Possess a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent).
- Have experience teaching Computer Science at KS3, with KS4 experience preferred; KS5 or KS2 experience is a plus but not crucial.
- Early-career teachers (including NQTs/ECTs) are encouraged to apply.

Desirable Qualities
- Background in teaching IGCSE/A Level or another international curriculum.
- Interest or experience in robotics, AI, game design, cybersecurity, or digital creativity.
- Experience leading coding clubs, robotics teams, hackathons, or tech competitions.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technologies.
- Commitment to RGSPP values and ethos.

All Teachers at RGSPP
- Teach (or are available for Private Study supervision or cover) a designated timetable each week.
- Accept responsibilities within their department as reasonably required, including assisting with the preparation and grading of internal examinations, entrance assessments, and scholarship evaluations, as well as recording results.
- Develop and share resources and best practices, contributing to departmental meetings and the online departmental handbook.
- Set and assess work in accordance with School and department policies; provide constructive feedback; maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress; write assessments and reports as needed.
- Attend meetings (staff meetings, INSET, Parents’ Briefings) and engage with parents during scheduled school events and at other appropriate times.
