About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative MYP Design Teacher specializing in Product Design (woodworking, CAD, laser cutting, and 3D printing) to join our international school in Luxembourg.

This position is perfect for an educator who recognizes design as a vital tool for students to explore concepts, tackle real-world challenges, and gain confidence as creators and innovators. While the primary focus will be on Product Design, familiarity with Digital Design is also essential, as it is integrated into the broader IB MYP Design curriculum.

We seek a teacher who enjoys guiding students through the design cycle, assisting them in defining problems, conducting research and brainstorming, prototyping, testing, iterating, and reflecting, all while developing practical design and technical skills.

What You'll Do

As our MYP Design Teacher, you will motivate students to design, construct, and assess solutions to real-world challenges, fostering creativity and technical confidence.

● Creating inquiry-based and project-driven learning experiences that link design to real-world applications.
● Instructing IB MYP Design, with a strong emphasis on Product Design, covering areas like prototyping, materials, tools, and the design process.
● Delivering engaging hands-on design projects that promote experimentation, iteration, and innovation.
● Incorporating Digital Design elements such as digital modeling, design tools, technology-supported workflows, robotics, coding, and electronics.
● Guiding students in developing effective design thinking and problem-solving skills, including procedural, logical, concurrent, abstract, and recursive thinking.
● Thoughtfully integrating technology to enhance learning and creativity.
● Differentiating instruction to support a diverse range of learners, including those learning English as an additional language.
● Utilizing a Learning Management System to organize educational materials and foster student engagement.
● Collaborating closely with colleagues to develop curriculum and exchange best practices.
● Contributing to the well-being and pastoral life of the school by serving as a student advisor.
● Fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every learner feels valued.
● Employing continuous assessment and feedback to promote student development.
● Actively participating in the vibrant life of the school, from parent evenings to community events and extracurricular activities.
● Pursuing professional growth and introducing innovative ideas in the classroom.
● Effectively engaging with AI to guide learners with a human-centered perspective, promoting ethical principles, responsible use, and providing the knowledge and skills necessary to create and utilize AI to enhance their education.

Profile: (training, experience, skills, and aptitudes necessary to perform the job)

● A minimum of two years of successful teaching experience, preferably within the IB MYP framework.
● Extensive experience in teaching Product Design, including practical workshop or maker-space environments.
● Experience in teaching or integrating Digital Design tools and processes.
● A passion for inquiry-based, concept-oriented, and project-based learning.
● Confidence in integrating technology into both teaching and learning.
● Ability to demonstrate AI Literacy skills: understanding AI principles, exploring AI applications, directing AI effectively, evaluating AI outputs, and using AI responsibly.
● Experience supporting diverse learners, including students learning English as an additional language.
● A collaborative approach and enjoyment of working within a professional learning community.
● A strong commitment to student well-being and holistic development.
● Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Design, Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
● Valid teaching qualification or certification.
● Fluency in English (near-native level).
● Experience in an international school setting is a plus.
