Role Overview:
Downe House Muscat is looking to appoint a remarkable Teacher of MFL to join our thriving Language Department. The ideal candidate will show a strong commitment to the academic, personal, and social development of students, maintaining effective communication with parents, staff, and students alike. The successful applicant will ensure that all students make significant progress and find MFL to be enjoyable, inspiring, and appropriately challenging. Any language specialization will be considered.

Currently, we offer Spanish, but there is notable interest in French. The teacher will play a significant role in the department’s growth, assisting in the development of an innovative program and supporting the establishment of a vibrant MFL department from the ground up.

As Downe House Muscat expands its creative curriculum, experience in various artistic styles is essential, and the successful candidate must be adaptable and confident in teaching across different specializations.

The position includes teaching IGCSE, A Level, and the Omani GED. Prior experience with the GED is not necessary, as comprehensive training will be provided.

We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic professional who excels in communication and fosters positive, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject from a reputable university. (E)

• Post Graduate Certificate of Education (or equivalent). (E)

• Qualified Teacher Status. (E)

• Evidence of additional postgraduate study. (D)

Skills & Experience

• A minimum of three years’ relevant teaching experience. (E)

• Familiarity with the Cambridge Lower Secondary International Curriculum as it pertains to your subject. (D)

• Experience teaching IGCSE and/or International A Levels.

• Background in a UK independent or international school setting. (D)

• Experience with students who have English as an Additional Language. (D)
