Academia Cotopaxi is on the lookout for an inquiry-driven Elementary Teacher who will implement concept-based, transdisciplinary PYP education for Grade 2. The ideal candidate will create experiential units through projects, fieldwork, and service learning, collaboratively develop inquiries with students to enhance their agency and voice, tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, and work closely with grade-level teams, specialists, and families.
Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver age-appropriate, concept-based transdisciplinary units that encourage inquiry and foster learner agency.

Adapt instruction and provide accommodations for Learning Support, ELL, and advanced learners.
•
Utilize formative and summative assessments, portfolios, and documentation to track student growth and guide instructional strategies; maintain thorough records and family reports.
•
Cultivate students’ social-emotional development, establish supportive routines, and promote a culturally responsive classroom environment.
•
Create inclusive and adaptable indoor/outdoor learning spaces that facilitate hands-on exploration and teamwork.
•
Engage regularly with families to communicate student progress and share strategies for supporting learning at home.
•
Contribute to school events (including some evenings and Saturdays), offer extended learning opportunities, and use planning time efficiently.
•
Commit to ongoing professional development, exemplify ethical IB-aligned practices, and actively participate in team planning and school enhancement efforts.
*Experience in international schools utilizing the PYP framework within a global teaching context is highly preferred.
