About This Role

Aldar Education is in search of an exceptional Head of Mathematics for the Middle and Senior School at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi, set to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

Strategic direction and development of the department

• Formulate and execute policies and practices that embody the School's vision, goals, and commitment to high achievement and effective teaching and learning.
• Develop, monitor, and assess short, medium, and long-term plans for departmental growth.
• Utilize data effectively to identify underperforming students and devise action plans to support their progress.
• Analyze and interpret relevant school data to guide policy development and contribute to the department/school Self-Evaluation Framework (SEF).
• Ensure the creation, implementation, and regular review of appropriate schemes of work that cater to all year groups and courses, including provisions for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.

Teaching and Learning:

• Guarantee curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students, including those with special educational needs and high ability.
• Establish clear policies and practices for assessing, documenting, and reporting student achievements.
• Ensure adherence to school policies on learning and teaching, including the Marking Policy and Teacher and Learner DNA characteristics.
• Set high standards for staff regarding achievement levels, quality of teaching, and student behavior.
• Evaluate the teaching and learning quality within the department, using findings to highlight effective practices and areas needing improvement, and implement actions to enhance teaching quality.
• Ensure regular departmental contributions to the school's ECA Programme and after-school Booster/Revision sessions for I/GCSE and A Level courses.

Leading and managing staff

• Conduct performance management for the team in alignment with the school’s policy.
• Establish clear expectations and foster constructive relationships within the team, ensuring collaboration, support, accountability, and high professional standards.
• Hold regular departmental meetings, complete with minutes and agendas, focusing on elevating standards in student achievement and teaching and learning.

Managing resources

• Ensure the efficient deployment of staff and resources.
• Maintain effective oversight of the department's Resource and CapEx budgets.
• Optimize the use of allocated teaching spaces to foster a stimulating environment for teaching and learning, adhering to the Learning Environment Policy.
• Ensure a safe working and learning atmosphere with properly assessed risks, in compliance with Health and Safety policies and regulations.

Other duties and responsibilities

• Contribute to the school's ECA Programme by leading or supporting one after-school activity each term.
• Serve as an Academic Mentor for Year 11/12/13 students.
• Participate in the staff duty rota.
• Engage actively in the school's pastoral care, assuming responsibilities as a form tutor/link tutor.
• Provide coverage for absent colleagues.
• Supervise examinations as required, including at least one evening and one weekend external examination session, to assist the Examinations Officer and the Summer Examination Schedule.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

• At least 6 years of teaching experience within the English National Curriculum.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
