THE ACADEMY

GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a prestigious private IB World School serving students from PreK to Grade 12. Established in 2008 as part of GEMS Education, we are authorized to offer the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programmes and are accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE

Our Individuals & Societies department has made significant strides in enhancing student outcomes and instilling a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success is attributed to the dedication of our staff, their exceptional command of subjects, and the department’s innovative approach to data and curriculum. The Humanities department is highly esteemed among our students for its commitment to personal support and care.

SKILLS

The successful candidate should have a proven history of effective teaching and enabling student success. While experience with the IB Middle Years Programmes and Diploma Programmes is preferred, outstanding teachers from various curriculum backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A strong alignment with the IB philosophy and commitment to the values of the Learner Profile are essential. Additionally, a genuine enthusiasm for working within a culturally diverse and non-selective community is required. The candidate should also possess:


A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree accompanied by a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent specialization in I&S/Humanities.


Advanced qualifications are preferred but not mandatory.


A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Secondary I&S, preferably in an IB curriculum school, though this is not essential.


A solid understanding of the IB MYP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred.


A strong desire to continuously enhance their teaching practice and deliver exceptional learning experiences for students.


The experience, personality, and educational philosophy that align with a leading IB World School such as GEMS World Academy.


Availability from August 2026.
