About This Role
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
• Design and deliver dynamic, well-organized lessons across the primary curriculum (English, Maths, Science, Humanities, PSHCE, etc.) that align with the expectations of the British National Curriculum.
• Foster a stimulating and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, independence, and academic advancement.
• Utilize assessment effectively to monitor, track, and support students' progress, tailoring learning experiences to meet individual requirements.
• Maintain high standards for behavior, exemplifying the school's values while helping students develop positive attitudes towards learning.
• Embed talk-rich learning, vocabulary enhancement, and reading throughout all subject areas.
Curriculum & Assessment
• Assist in the creation of long-term planning, unit overviews, and curriculum progression for your designated year group.
• Employ both formative and summative assessments to guide future steps and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Engage in moderation practices, internal assessments, and reporting to parents.
• Support the incorporation of cross-curricular strategies, including literacy, numeracy, digital learning, and inquiry-based education.
Pastoral Care & Well-being
• Deliver daily pastoral support for the class, addressing children’s emotional, social, and behavioral needs.
• Establish strong relationships with students, nurturing a safe, supportive, and collaborative classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the pastoral team to identify and assist pupils with extra learning, social, emotional, or safeguarding requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with parents through regular updates, meetings, and formal reporting.
Professional Responsibilities
• Work alongside colleagues in planning, co-teaching, and sharing best practices within and across year groups.
• Participate in staff meetings, INSET days, parent engagement events, curriculum evenings, and broader professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the development of school policies, improvement initiatives, and academic standards throughout the primary school.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, behavior, and safeguarding matters.
Co-Curricular & School Contribution
• Lead or assist in co-curricular activities, clubs, and events as part of the school's enrichment program.
• Participate in school performances, assemblies, themed weeks, open days, and community events.
• Support the House system and contribute to fostering a positive school culture.
Operational Duties
• Ensure that the classroom is organized, safe, and well-stocked, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
• Keep planning, assessment records, and documentation up to date as required by the school.
• Collaborate professionally with Teaching Assistants and specialist teachers.
