About This Role

This role is based in Xi'an, China.

Our School: At Dehong Schools, our primary focus is on our students. We adopt a comprehensive approach to learning and the overall school experience, aiming to cultivate students' character, enhance their social abilities, and help them reach their academic potential. Dehong Schools offer an engaging and innovative educational program that integrates the Chinese mandatory curriculum, the educational philosophy and teaching methods of Dulwich College International Schools, and the IB Diploma Programme, all supported by state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional faculty from both China and beyond. Our teachers are dedicated to creating diverse, stimulating, and enjoyable learning opportunities, both within and outside the classroom.

Our Teacher Profile: At Dehong, students are our top priority. Because educators play a crucial role in guiding our students to become confident, inquisitive, and informed global citizens, we seek to hire outstanding professionals in international education who are enthusiastic about unlocking their students' potential. Our teachers motivate and inspire their students today to effect positive change in the world – embracing life fully, responsibly, and sustainably.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assume responsibility for your subject team in alignment with the school’s academic plan, including leading research initiatives, coordinating curriculum planning, supervising subject teachers, and managing teaching and academic assessment reporting requirements, following the review and approval of the Head of School/Deputy Head of School.
• Develop and maintain a Subject Leader Handbook that encompasses all aspects of your subject, including curriculum, organizational policies, and specific guidelines.
• Suggest teaching research topics and goals, motivate teachers to engage in research activities, summarize findings, facilitate sharing, and support publication when appropriate.
• Oversee teacher supervision, including organizing collaborative lesson planning sessions, ensuring a consistent format, reviewing lesson plans for quality, and providing regular feedback.
• Maintain comprehensive archive files of all lesson plans and educational materials pertinent to the subject and DEXA as a whole.
• Keep historical data related to assessment results organized and accessible.
• Collaborate on the teaching timetable, including test arrangements and class coverage with Academic Administration.
• Manage and supervise academic resources.
• Observe and mentor new and returning teachers within your subject area and, when necessary, across the entire school.
• Schedule regular seminars (training sessions) for teachers within the subject, featuring a detailed agenda approved by SLT and the Director of Teacher and Student Advancement. Subject Leaders should act as the Chief Career Professional Coach for their area and disseminate knowledge as necessary within DEXA.
• Conduct weekly observations, encourage peer class observations, evaluate lessons across different disciplines, and promote integration of Chinese and Western cultures through collaborative teaching.
• Design, promote, and supervise high-quality subject enrichment activities, including After School Activities (ASA), “Zhihong” programs, and broader academic or community events. These initiatives should engage students in expanding their skills and knowledge while facilitating teachers' professional growth. Subject Leaders must ensure compliance with EiM, Education Bureau, and DEXA requirements and propose new opportunities in agreement with SLT.
• Attend all SLT-directed meetings as scheduled at the discretion of SLT.
• Participate in AMC organized Events and Activities, including all required Open Houses for Subject Leaders.
• Some Subject Leaders may take on additional roles, such as House Leadership or Sustainability Coordination, as confirmed by SLT to benefit the school.
• Conduct weekly meetings with all Subject members to outline communication, tasks, work plans, and responsibilities. A pre-confirmed agenda and minutes must be circulated to SLT and all meeting participants.
• Complete any other reasonable tasks assigned by school leadership or your line manager.
