ROLE SUMMARY:

St. Louis School, a leading international institution in Milan and part of the Inspired Education Group, is committed to excellence in academics, the arts, and sports. Instruction is delivered in English, with students prepared for IGCSE and IBDP pathways within the St. Louis School network.

We are excited to invite applications for a dedicated and qualified Middle School Humanities Teacher to join the Colonna Campus starting in August 2026. The chosen candidate will teach Humanities to Middle School students (equivalent to Key Stage 3), focusing on History and Geography.

The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity about the world, enhance students' critical thinking and analytical skills, and develop an understanding of historical, geographical, and cultural contexts within a vibrant international framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct engaging and high-quality Humanities lessons that align with the school's curriculum and the British educational framework.

• Enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of History, Geography, and related fields through structured and differentiated teaching approaches.

• Promote critical thinking, inquiry skills, and global awareness among students.

• Create a positive, inclusive, and academically ambitious classroom environment.

• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress to maintain high achievement standards.

• Prepare students thoroughly for IGCSE Humanities pathways.

• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, departmental initiatives, and the sharing of best practices.

• Maintain high standards of behavior and contribute to pastoral care.

• Engage positively with parents and the broader school community.

• Consistently adhere to safeguarding and child protection protocols.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in History, Geography, Humanities, or a closely related field.

• A PGCE or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Humanities at the secondary or upper primary level.

• Strong organizational skills and classroom management abilities.

• Native or near-native proficiency in English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• A collaborative, student-centered, and reflective approach to teaching.

• Familiarity with the British curriculum (desirable).

• Experience in an international or multilingual school setting (desirable).

• Knowledge of IGCSE Humanities subjects (desirable).

• Proficiency in Italian is advantageous but not required.

Requirements:

• Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification is preferred.

• An EU passport or valid visa to work in Italy would be beneficial.

• Familiarity with the British curriculum is preferred.

Interviews may be conducted via Zoom and could begin prior to the application closing date. Relocation support will be provided in accordance with school policy.

Compensation
