About This Role

Valuing diversity is a fundamental principle at Ambitious about Autism. We are currently seeking an Assistive Technologist to become a part of our St. John's College team in Brighton. This position will help to advocate for and celebrate the integration of inclusive practices that improve the quality of life and learning accessibility for our students. Your focus will be on enhancing learner independence and overall well-being by assessing needs, suggesting suitable technologies, offering training and support for their use, and monitoring progress to make necessary adjustments. This role will serve all settings within St. John's College and its residential facilities.

As an Assistive Technologist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring assistive technology tailored for our learners. You will also provide modeling and training to staff and parents covering the full range of communication and technology support. As a member of the diagnostic team, you will deliver ongoing technical assistance to learners, staff, and parents.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistive Technologist:
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to exchange information and expertise in order to design and implement effective student programs focused on developing and delivering assistive technology services.
- Enable student communication in various social environments through the application of assistive technology.
- Work with learners in need of assistive technology support to create individualized learning plans.
- Utilize technology effectively for communication, report generation, and data collection, ensuring accurate record-keeping and communication with team members, parents, administration, and charity personnel.
