Role Overview
Bellver College is looking for a qualified, collaborative, and reflective Speech and Language Therapist to aid in the development and implementation of speech and language services throughout the school.

This position is an essential component of Bellver College’s expanding Student Support Team and directly contributes to the creation of a comprehensive, neuro-affirming support program. Under the guidance of the SENCO and in partnership with teachers, families, and external specialists, the Speech and Language Therapist will offer assessment, intervention, and consultation services that empower students to engage in learning, communication, and social interactions within the school environment.

The ideal candidate will adopt a strengths-based, student-centered approach and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practices in an international educational setting.

Core Purpose
The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for assessing, treating, and providing consultative support to students with needs related to speech, language, communication, and social communication. This role will focus primarily on the Life Centered Education/Intensive Needs Program over three days a week. A significant aspect of the position will involve collaborating with the Life Centered Education Teacher to develop the program and deliver therapeutic services, while fostering a supportive classroom environment. The emphasis will be on reducing obstacles to learning, promoting student independence, and enhancing whole-school inclusive practices through collaboration, intervention, and capacity-building.

Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Intervention
• Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations to determine students’ speech, language, communication, and pragmatic abilities, identifying needs for support.

• Create and execute individualized therapy plans and targeted interventions that align with student needs and school systems.

• Provide individual and small-group therapy sessions as necessary.

• Assist in the implementation of assistive and augmentative communication strategies as required.

Individualized Planning & Progress Monitoring
• Contribute to the development and review of Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), IEPs, or similar support plans with clear, measurable objectives.

• Track student progress and modify interventions based on data and observations.

• Draft written progress updates and reports for families and the student support team.

Collaboration & Consultation
• Collaborate closely with the SENCO as part of a unified Student Support Team.

• Work with classroom teachers to promote inclusive practices and communication-rich learning environments.

• Provide insights and strategies to teachers and assistants to address students’ communication needs in classrooms.

• Attend student support, team, and parent meetings as necessary.

Program Development & Whole-School Support
• Assist in the enhancement of Bellver College’s speech and language services and inclusive support systems.

• Review student applications and provide professional insights regarding communication needs as appropriate.

• Support documentation, data collection, and systems related to student support services.

• Manage resources and operate within established budgets for therapy services.

Professional Practice & Safeguarding
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policies.

• Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies consistently.

• Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.

• Demonstrate commitment to Bellver College’s mission, values, and inclusive culture.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• Relevant qualification in Speech and Language Therapy / Speech-Language Pathology.

• Registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional body.

• At least three years of experience as a Speech and Language Therapist, preferably in a school environment.

• Strong understanding of speech, language, communication, and social communication development.

Desirable
• Experience in an international or culturally diverse educational setting.

• Familiarity with neurodivergent learners, including those with autism, ADHD, nonverbal and preverbal students, and dyslexia.

• Experience in collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams.
