Brookes Moscow, a distinguished international school with a strong reputation in global education, is seeking applications for the position of Psychology Teacher. This role entails overseeing the vision, growth, and implementation of an extensive psychology curriculum for Upper School students.

The psychology teacher is essential in guiding students through the foundational concepts of psychology, addressing a wide array of subjects including human behavior, mental processes, and cognitive development. The primary focus is to provide engaging and insightful lessons that not only convey theoretical knowledge but also foster critical thinking and real-world application.

This position requires crafting a curriculum that aligns with educational standards, preparing lesson plans, and employing diverse teaching strategies to accommodate varied learning preferences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Instruct Psychology courses, including introductory and AP-level topics, encompassing biological, cognitive, developmental, social, and abnormal psychology.

• Inspire students through thoughtfully crafted and creative lessons that enable all learners to access the curriculum and achieve notable progress.

• Monitor, assess, and document the academic progress and achievement of all students, offering effective formative feedback to ensure opportunities for development.

• Design a curriculum that is both accessible and challenging, continuously reflecting on lessons and updating Schemes of Learning (SoL), lesson plans, and teaching materials.

• Regularly assess individual student needs using effective AFL strategies and adjust instruction accordingly.

• Establish and maintain an engaging learning environment, including classroom displays and resources.

• Provide care for students, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all.

• Promote values and teach skills essential for students to attain positive mental health and well-being in your capacity as a teacher and mentor.

• Effectively communicate with parents regarding the progress, achievements, and overall development of students in your care through written reports and parent/teacher consultation evenings, while supporting the school’s ‘open door’ philosophy where appropriate.

• Contribute to our supportive and collegial community by being collaborative, empathetic, and demonstrating integrity and kindness to everyone.

• Actively participate in our extensive outdoor learning program.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology; Master’s Degree preferred.

• Teaching certification is required.

• Experience in teaching high school or AP Psychology is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of research methodology, scientific writing, and cognitive science.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport.

• Fluency in English is mandatory.

• Knowledge of safeguarding and ethical teaching practices is essential.

• Ability to motivate students effectively and consistently provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with all stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and harmonious environment.

Compensation
