British School Alzira/Xativa/Gandia is part of a network of British schools situated in the Valencia region of Spain, committed to delivering a top-notch British education to a diverse student body.

We are looking for a Teacher for Psychology at KS5 (A-Level) and some Maths at KS3 to join British School Alzira, starting in September 2026.

Our three outstanding institutions are co-educational and adhere to the British National Curriculum.

We welcome applications from both experienced educators and newly qualified teachers, including teaching couples.

To be considered for a position at our school, applicants must have the right to work in Spain. Typically, candidates are either current residents of Spain or hold an EU passport, including that from Ireland.

Qualifications

  • A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and high expectations for all learners.
  • A strong grasp of the curriculum, along with the ability to engage students through innovative lesson delivery.
  • A B.Ed., P.G.C.E, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Native-level proficiency in English (Spanish language skills are not a requirement for our teachers).

In return, we provide a supportive and successful school atmosphere characterized by small class sizes, motivated students eager to learn, excellent behavior standards, and involved parents.

Our Schools

Teachers at our schools work together to deliver an exceptional standard of British education, preparing students for further studies at universities in the UK, Spain, and beyond.

British School Alzira is an independent, co-educational school located in a beautiful mountain setting, just 40km south of Valencia, Spain. We offer convenient access to the Mediterranean coast and the lively city of Valencia, ensuring a remarkable educational experience.

British School Xativa, which opened in September 2009, features expansive grounds situated beneath the historic Xativa castle, providing a modern and spacious learning environment.

British School Gandia, which began operations in September 2015, currently serves students from Pre-Nursery to Year 11. Positioned in the coastal resort of Gandia, the school is experiencing rapid growth and will introduce KS5 in the 2026-2027 academic year.

All of our schools are equipped with facilities such as a library, tennis courts, swimming pools, an ICT suite, a ballet room, an indoor PE area, shaded outdoor play areas, science laboratories, a well-equipped art department, and spacious classrooms.

Teachers collaborate across the three campuses to ensure a cohesive learning experience for our students.

Our Greatest Asset – Our Staff

All teachers receive a full-time permanent contract starting from their first day of employment with us.

We operate our own internal pay structure, which offers salaries considerably above the national average for teachers in Spain. Furthermore, we have an incremental salary system that rewards teachers with annual salary increases for continued service. For more details about our salary system, please refer to the ‘Welcome Pack’.

Benefits for teachers include free education for their children, an annual flight allowance, work-related private health insurance, and discounted rates at various local businesses, including opticians and dentists.

We also offer comprehensive support for staff relocating. This includes assistance from a pastoral care administrator who helps teachers register with the Spanish social security and health systems, as well as aid in finding accommodation and addressing other relocation concerns.
