Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Copper Fields School, Gunnislake, PL18 9EH
Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (£13.25 per hour) (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Rota: Monday 8.30am – 5.00pm | Tuesday to Friday 8.30am – 3.45pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: May 2026

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Copper Fields School. In this role, you will assist students with diverse and complex needs in achieving their academic, social, and emotional potential. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about fostering learning in a supportive, safe, and engaging environment.
You will:
- Collaborate with individual students and small groups to enhance their learning and development
- Aid teachers in designing and delivering lessons that cater to students’ specific needs
- Prepare classrooms, materials, and resources to create inviting learning spaces
- Establish positive, trusting relationships with students to promote their participation and engagement
- Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral growth
- Monitor and communicate student progress to teaching staff
- Contribute to the development and execution of individual education plans
- Help maintain high standards of behavior, safeguarding, and student wellbeing
- Assist with extra-curricular activities, outings, and learning experiences as needed
- Work effectively as part of a team, sharing best practices and assisting colleagues
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of students with SEN/ASC
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates patience
- Can adapt and think creatively to support learning
- Exhibits resilience, positivity, and a readiness to learn
- Has prior experience in education (preferred but not mandatory)
