We are seeking an experienced elementary educator to join our Middle School Program, teaching Humanities for Grades 6 and 7. Working within a collaborative teaching team, you will champion the growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Our approach to teaching and learning is centered around students, promoting collaboration and inquiry to enrich the educational journey for our learners. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and innovative school community focused on personal excellence, comprehensive child development, and overall well-being. In addition to a rewarding experience with eager students, you will work alongside dedicated educators, teachers, and leaders who are passionate about their profession. This contract will run from March to June.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a classroom atmosphere that promotes Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for Grade 6 girls in a homeroom context.
  • Work together with colleagues to design the Grade 6 & 7 Humanities Curriculum (English Language Arts and Social Studies).
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Meet the diverse needs of students in your planning and teaching, offering multiple entry points and extensions tailored to individual learners.
  • Utilize various assessment methods to provide timely, transparent, and strength-based feedback on learning.
  • Foster a culture of inquiry-based, student-centered, and supportive learning.
  • Incorporate technology into teaching and learning in impactful ways.
  • Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administration to support student learning and well-being.
  • Actively engage in school life, including co-curricular activities.
  • Assist in supervising students during non-instructional times.
  • Participate in broader school events, such as community gatherings, student leadership initiatives, and outdoor education experiences.

Qualifications:

  • B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in a middle school teaching environment is an advantage.
  • Understanding of how to support various learning styles at the elementary level.
  • Collaborative, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to be innovative, adaptable, and highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Energy, commitment, and a willingness to engage in the co-curricular program and the vibrant life of the school community.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
