About This Role

Charterhouse Malaysia was established in 2021 as an ambitious new addition to the international school sector in Kuala Lumpur. Initially launched as a Sixth Form college, it has since expanded to serve students in Years 9–13, with a clear focus on preparing students for their futures. The school is designed for a maximum of 450 students, emphasizing small class sizes and personalized care and mentorship.

As part of the rapidly growing Charterhouse Family of Schools, Charterhouse Malaysia benefits from over 400 years of educational excellence from its UK counterpart, adapting this legacy to better suit the Malaysian and Southeast Asian contexts. With the Founding Head, Richard Davidson, transitioning to new opportunities after five years of dedicated leadership, Charterhouse Asia is now in search of an outstanding Headteacher to continue building on the accomplishments achieved thus far, establishing this academically successful and inspiring school and guiding it into its next developmental phase.

In its first four years, Charterhouse Malaysia has experienced steady growth, cultivating its unique Future Ready approach. The inaugural graduating class of 2024 has successfully gained entry to prestigious universities in the UK and the US. Due to rising enrollment from international students, the school has recently launched boarding facilities and is set to introduce additional IGCSE and A-Level courses in response to this demand in 2025.

The new Headteacher will face the challenge of expanding the school's enrollment to full capacity, ensuring that the innovative Future Ready curriculum continues to adeptly prepare students for an ever-evolving world. It is essential that the school remains aligned with the Charterhouse traditions of holistic education and upholds values such as perseverance, responsibility, moral courage, open-mindedness, and kindness. With a strong foundation already established, the school aims to further solidify its status as one of the most esteemed and distinctive educational institutions in Kuala Lumpur.

The Headteacher will report to the Managing Director of Charterhouse Asia and the Governing Board. This role requires a genuine commitment to innovation, personal charisma, the ability to quickly establish credibility with parents, staff, and other stakeholders, along with the commercial acumen necessary to thrive in a competitive educational environment. Charterhouse Malaysia is highly ambitious about nurturing students who are not only academically accomplished but also exceptionally prepared for life beyond academics; the Headteacher will have a unique opportunity to lead a school that is innovative, bold, and focused.

This role will be pivotal in achieving Charterhouse Malaysia’s goals and enhancing the well-earned reputation it has developed as a leading academic institution in the country. Ideal candidates will possess a proven track record in secondary school leadership within a British curriculum framework, likely already serving as a successful Head.

The position is set to commence in August 2025.
