Job Overview
Capital School Bahrain is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Science to lead the growth and development of our Science department for Key Stages 3 and 4. This key role will be essential in enhancing our educational offerings and preparing for the introduction of A-Level courses.

The successful candidate will uphold high standards in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring outstanding results in IGCSE while setting the stage for success at the post-16 level. The ideal applicant will be either a current Head of Science or a distinguished Deputy Head of Science with a solid background in A-Level instruction and departmental leadership.

The Role
As the Head of Science, your duties will encompass:

• Leading and managing the Science department, which includes Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Steering the planning, sequencing, and assessment of the curriculum from KS3 to KS5
• Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all Science areas
• Leveraging assessment and performance data to improve attainment and progress
• Leading the preparation, delivery, and development of IGCSE and A-Level Science programs
• Supervising Science staff while fostering their professional growth and coaching
• Overseeing practical science provisions, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
• Contributing to whole-school improvement priorities and leadership initiatives

Person Specification
Essential

• Qualified teacher status in a Science specialization (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
• Strong subject knowledge in the Science curriculum
• Proven experience teaching A-Level Science
• Prior experience in a Head of Science or Deputy Head of Science position
• Experience delivering the English National Curriculum and IGCSE specifications
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities

Desirable

• Experience in an international or British overseas school
• Experience leading curriculum development or enhancing examination outcomes
• Commitment to inclusive practices, innovation, and ongoing professional development
