About This Role

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY OPEN COMPETITION (This is a re-advertisement. Previous candidates need not apply.) The Education Department of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band is currently inviting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year to fill a Full-Time Term position based at Central Office in La Ronge, SK: Learning Support Coordinator.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: collaborating with students, teachers, and staff to develop strategies that enhance academic success. You will implement intervention and advising techniques for both educators and learners, addressing challenges related to time management, motivation, academic shortcomings, and goal-setting. Supporting students in identifying their learning preferences for more effective study methods is also essential. Furthermore, you will aid teachers in preparing students for standardized assessments.

Establishing and maintaining connections with contractors specific to Learning Supports is crucial as well as assisting faculty in identifying students who would benefit from intervention. You will employ effective intervention methods to assist students in overcoming learning difficulties while fostering positive relationships among students, teachers, parents, principals, guidance counselors, and others to promote collaboration.

Continuous feedback and coaching for staff will be provided, and in partnership with School Principals, you will implement programs to safeguard students and address issues around harassment, bullying, or discrimination. You will oversee needs assessments, goal-setting, and plans for student improvement, ensuring to follow up and provide feedback to staff members. Alongside Principals, you will ensure that standardized tests and inventories are administered in accordance with established practices, professional standards, and provincial guidelines on a timely basis. Timely submission of reports and information requested by Authorities is also part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will maintain student records for the schools, including personnel, school population, and academic records, while establishing and maintaining relationships with other school districts, Education Departments, colleges, universities, and the Ministry of Education.

The ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications:
• A Bachelor of Education degree with specialization/training in Special Education.
• A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in Special Education.
• Experience in a resource room setting.
• Strong experience as an elementary and/or secondary school administrator.
• Familiarity with school board policies, compliance regulations, and relevant legislation.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of child development and teaching methodologies.
• Cultural sensitivity.
• Proficiency in the Cree language is an asset.
• Ability to recognize diverse learning styles and learner characteristics.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft software, including Word and Excel.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s license.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
