Job Description

1. Role Overview

The Head of Secondary School plays a vital strategic and operational role and is an integral member of the School Leadership Team (SLT). The SLT shares collective responsibility for all elements of the school concerning the education and growth of both students and staff. While each member has defined areas of focus, all work collaboratively to support one another and enhance the school's overall mission.

2. Key Responsibilities

· Champion exceptional teaching and learning, fostering an optimal environment that prioritizes student needs in all decision-making processes.

· Oversee the safeguarding of students within the school, adhering to the EIM safeguarding framework, policies, and code of conduct, in partnership with the Principal.

· Ensure the school maintains the highest standards of Health and Safety, working alongside the Principal and Director of Business and Administration.

· Manage the daily operations of the school, including resource allocation and budget oversight.

· Offer support, guidance, and leadership, serving as a role model for best practices among all staff members.

· Recognize and respond to the diverse needs of all stakeholders within the school community.

3.1 Qualifications

Essential

· University degree with honors, a recognized teaching qualification, and evidence of continuous professional development.

Desirable

· Advanced degree in education; currently holding or pursuing the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) or International Leadership and Management Programme (ILMP) or a similar credential.

3.2 Experience

Essential

· A strong commitment and enthusiasm for enhancing student learning.

· Experience in a leadership role within a school, with responsibilities in curriculum development, student wellbeing, or personnel management.

· Background in an international or independent/private educational institution.

· Proven track record in developing and executing school quality improvement initiatives that lead to higher student achievement levels.

· Extensive professional knowledge of curriculum, quality management, school organization, and contemporary educational challenges.

· Successful experience in building partnerships and communicating effectively with parents and the wider community.

· Demonstrated ability to support, motivate, lead, and manage staff effectively.

· Proficient in representing the school to students and parents.

· Strong organizational and administrative capabilities, along with experience in effective resource management.

· Skills in coaching and mentoring.

Desirable

· Experience in an international educational setting.

· Familiarity with A-Level programs.

· Background in IGCSE programs.

· Understanding of diverse cultures, particularly within China.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
